(Panda)monium plays on the word “pandemonium,” evoking excitement and uproar, yet contrasts it with the calm, docile nature of a panda cut-out form textured like a bonsai tree. Featuring a clock, the piece explores the cycle of time, with each leaf highlighted in diamond-colored paint to signify the preciousness of time. It prompts reflection on whether to capture fleeting moments or let them pass, blending serenity and chaos in a thought-provoking dialogue.

Haafiz Shahimi, born in Kedah, Malaysia, in 1986, graduated with a BA (Hons) in Fine Arts from UiTM Shah Alam in 2011. His artistic journey encompasses various disciplines, including painting, installation, and performing arts. Since 2014, he has delved into the techniques of creating artworks with fire, exploring pyrography printing and direct fire burning, thereby expanding the scope and scale of his artwork. Later more his experimental works through the years, Haafiz came up with new body works that were inspired from his metal block pyrography print. The idea is to expand and overtake the metal plate as an artwork and make a journey from it. The metal works became the most important works from his experience throughout his career by combining his creative processes and manipulating industrial materials.
